Microsoft has, without any real publicity, launched its own social network -- they swear it isn’t a Facebook competitor.
Practitioners and/or learners can even use their Facebook account to log in to So.cl
The So.cl experimental research project combines social networking and search, according to Microsoft. It launched 4 months ago in conjunction with the University of Washington, Syracuse University, and New York University. But it only opened to the public at large over the weekend of 19/20th May 2012.
Microsoft also claims it isn't meant to compete with "Big Blue" either.
